General information

W.H.V. Centauri is a student handball association and also the only handball club in Wageningen. We train twice a week in Sports Centre de Bongerd (Bornsesteeg 2, Gebouw 130, 6708PE Wageningen, on-campus). Both ladies and gents training is Tuesday from 21.00 to 22.30 hrs in hall 4 and on Wednesday from 20.30 to 22.30 hrs in hall 2. It doesn’t matter if you have been playing handball for a long time or if this is your first time, there is room for everyone. The training on Tuesday is meant for people with sufficient handball experience and who would like to train on a higher intensity. On Wednesday there is regular open training for all members. W.H.V. Centauri doesn’t play regular competition, but we arrange several friendly matches against other (student) handball teams from the Netherlands. In addition, every year we participate in the several tournaments in the Netherlands, such as Ha-Stu, Oktopus and the GNSK (the Large Dutch Student Championship). We also attend an international tournament every year, for example to Belgium, Germany or somewhere else in Europe. Besides playing handball, we also enjoy doing fun activities together as an association. We organize non-handball related social activities each period, such as Beerpong tournaments, a pub quiz or scavenger hunt. We traditionally close the academic year with the annual Centauri weekend at the beginning of July.

Throughout the years many international students have been part of WHV Centauri. We have had handball players from all over the world, from Taiwan to Switzerland! This international environment is something that is very important to us. Besides a fun integration between Dutch and international students, it also gives us the opportunity to have cultural activities such as Italian dinners and the celebration of Dutch “Sinterklaas”!
Would you like to play handball at W.H.V. Centauri, then you are very welcome! The first training sessions are non-binding, if you like to continue playing handball, the contribution is 20 euros per year. In addition, annual or exchange sports rights of Thymos/Sports Centre the Bongerd are mandatory, for further information see the Thymos site.
