President:
Hi! I am Gwen, 21 years old and studying MSc Food Safety and MSc Food Technology. After exploring various sports as a child only one stuck, handball. I have been playing for roughly 11 years, of which 10 as a goalie and 3 at Centauri. 10 years as a goalie does take a different kind of crazy I guess, because I wouldn’t change it for the world. Besides handball, I enjoy cooking and any other random hobby I happen to pick up at the moment. On the weekends this year you’ll probably find me working in a restaurant in Winterswijk as kitchen/snackbar staff or behind the ‘wedstrijdtafel’ for the gents games. As president this year I will ensure that Centauri keeps running smoothly and efficiently and, of course, enjoy another board year ahead!
“Forged in the ‘vaaàaast’ lands of the Achterhoek”Vice president & Commissioner of Activities:
Hi, my name is Sterre. I am 21 years old and I am in my first year of the master Animal Sciences. I joined Centauri in my first year of the bachelor, so this is already my 4th year here. Before Wageningen, I played handball at homehome for a very long time. In my free time I enjoy chilling with my housemates, listening to music and riding my horse. In the weekends I still work in a store at homehome. I am looking forward to organize a lot of fun activities this year! At the moment I’ve been injured quite some time, but I am still at the trainings, watching from my block, so come find me for a talk or if you have ideas for an activity!
“Queen of the block”Secretary:
Hi! My name is Pim, I am 19 years old and currently I am in my third year for the study Animal Sciences. Since I was 6 years old, I have been playing handball at H.V. Actief, a club close to the city Groningen. This is where I am still playing competition and training on the Fridays. When I moved to Wageningen, I directly joined Centauri to keep playing handball and the endurance for my matches in the weekend. Besides handball, I like to go windsurfing, go to the gym or hang out with friends until the early mornings. I really enjoyed the trainings at Centauri as well as the many hours I spend in the sports pub. This was my motivation last year, as well as all the tournaments I went to with Centauri, to join the board as Commissioner of Tournaments. Being part of the board was nice to do, a lot of fun and of course I learned a lot. This is why I chose to be part of the board again, but now as secretary! I am looking forward to answering all your mails and to keep you updated with all fun and necessary information. So overall, I am really excited about my second year in the board of Centauri!
“His eyes close earlier than the Woeste”Treasurer:
Hey all, I am Jeanne, 19 years old and I’m in my second year of the bachelor Food Technology. I’ve played handball since I was seven in my hometown Breda. Last year, I joined Centauri because I wasn’t able to keep playing in Breda anymore and quitting handball wasn’t an option of course! Besides handball, I also like to do pretty much any other sport possible (especially running). I also enjoy cooking together with my friends and playing card games. In the weekends I still work at the Lidl in Breda. Last year, I had lots of fun during the trainings, tournaments and activities, so I’m really excited for upcoming year!!
“Also known as Jean, Sjan, Jan, Zjan and Sjean”Commissioner of Tournaments:
Hi! My name is Rodrigo, I am 20 years old and originally from Portugal. I am currently in my third year of the bachelor Food Technology at Wageningen University. I started playing handball at the age of 15, shortly after the pandemic curfew ended, and I have been a member of Centauri since 2023. Besides Centauri, I am also a member of Nicolas Appert, the study association for Food Technology. Outside of handball, I enjoy playing a variety of sports, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends. I am also a big foodie, both when it comes to cooking and eating! As Commissioner of Tournaments, I am very excited to bring Centauri to many challenging tournaments and make sure we have a lot of fun together both on and off the field!
