General information

We are a student handball association, but we are the only handball club in Wageningen. We train twice a week in Sports Centre de Bongerd (Bornsesteeg 2, Gebouw 130, 6708PE Wageningen, on-campus). Both ladies and gents training is Tuesday from 21.00 to 22.30 hrs and on Wednesday from 20.30 hrs to 22.30 hrs. If you feel like it, just come and train with us! It doesn’t matter if you have been playing handball for a long time or if this is your first time, there is room for everyone. The training on Tuesday is meant for people with sufficient handball experience and who would like to train on a higher intensity. On Wednesday there is regular open training for all members. For more information about training, you can always send an email to!

We don’t play regular competition but we arrange several friendly matches against other handball teams from the Netherlands. In addition, every year we participate in the GNSK, the Large Dutch Student Championship. This is the largest multi-day student sports event in the Netherlands. We are going there with a ladies and a gents team. We also participate in several (student) handball tournaments in the Netherlands and once a year we go to an international tournament. We have been to tournaments in the Czech Republic, Berlin, Hamburg and Italy. Besides playing handball, we also enjoy doing fun things together as an association. We organize a non-handball related social activity each period, such as Beerpong tournaments, a pub quiz or scavenger hunt. We traditionally close the academic year with the annual Centauri weekend at the beginning of July.

Throughout the years many international students have been part of WHV Centauri. We have had handball players from all over the world, from South Korea to Switzerland! This international environment is something that is very important to us. Besides a fun integration between Dutch and international students, it also gives us the opportunity to have cultural activities such as Italian dinners and the celebration of Dutch “Sinterklaas”!

Would you like to play handball at Centauri, then you are very welcome! The first training sessions are non-binding, if you like to continue playing handball, the contribution is 20 euros per year. In addition, sports rights of Thymos are mandatory, these can be used for multiple sports and the cost of this is about 105 euros for a whole year.
